It's a great pleasure to welcome Luis Elizondo, the author of the new book Imminent: Inside the Pentagon's Hunt for UFOs. This is a man who was the head of the Department of Defense's Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP). As we will learn in our conversation with Luis, the Pentagon loves acronyms.
Luis takes us through a moment that he recorded in his new book that was a challenge. He was stepping in a new into a new world, out of the Army that he served in the Defense Department.
He wrote a resignation letter in October of 2017 to General Mattis, then the secretary of defense. In the body of the letter, Luis very carefully argued that the department must take seriously many accounts by the Navy and other services of unusual aerial systems interfering with military weapon platforms and displaying beyond next-generation capabilities.
What were those capabilities, and why did Luis resign with that in his letter?
