The Roman Poet of America's Founding (with Robert G. Natelson)

Robert G. Natelson illustrates why the Founding Fathers felt such an affinity for the epic poet of Roman antiquity.

Vergil, born 70 BCE. Died 19 BCE. What does Vergil have to do, have in common, and have a presence with our founding fathers?

That's right. Two-thousand years apart, and yet…

I welcome Robert G. Natelson, a former constitutional law professor (classics training), now senior fellow in constitutional jurisprudence at the Independence Institute in Denver, the author of The Original Constitution: What It Actually Said and Meant, and the translator of Latin edition of the children's classic David and the Phoenix.

Vergil and the American Revolution. I love the idea. Robert can put them together. How so?
