In my humble opinion, Craig Unger’s precious source, Oleg Kalugin, has always been Kremlin-loyal, as evidenced by his claiming, for example, that Yuri Nosenko was a true defector, that Vitaly Yurchenko was a true defector, that Aleksei Kalugin (FEDORA) at the FBI was really spying for the Bureau, that there really was a KGB “mole” in the FBI whom the KGB called “Dick," and that the 2007 Yale University Press book “Spy Wars: Moles, Mysteries, and Deadly Games” by Nosenko’s former CIA case officer and primary interrogator, Tennent H. Bagley, was “trash.” In other words, it seems to me that Kalugin, in the interest of boosting his “bona fides” even further and possibly deflecting our attention from something more serious, is just confirming stuff we should have figured out a long time ago
