We are looking at headlines that race ahead of our analysis, so we need to catch up. The headline right now is: “US death toll climbs as Iran war expands.”
The introduction to the article from London reads: “Four American troops are believed to have been killed in recent days as the US and Iran escalated their war in the Middle East, and the US carried out strikes on Iran for an eighth straight day.”
U.S. Central Command, which oversees military operations in the Middle East, said on Sunday that after a thorough search, U.S. military personnel found unidentified remains at the location in Jordan, where two troops had been killed and a third was reported missing on Friday following an Iranian attack.
One other U.S. service member was killed and another injured on Saturday in northern Iraq during what CENTCOM called a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone.
I’ll stop there because current war reporting is shrouded in the fog of war. What I take from this is that the enemy gets a vote, and right now, there are rumors out there—just rumor talk, and that’s all it is.
